Oscar Fingal O' Flahertie Wills Wilde was an Irish poet and playwright. After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s, the early 1890s saw him become one of the most popular playwrights in London. 

Oscar Wilde was born on 16th October 1854 in Westland Road, Dublin, Ireland. His father Sir William Wilde, was a well-known surgeon and his mother Jane Wilde wrote poetry and other literary works. He studied in Royal School in Ireland and in Trinity College, Dublin. 

He died on 13th November 1900 in France.

'The Happy Prince' and 'Other Tales' is a collection of stories for children by Oscar Wilde It was first published in May, 1888. It contained stories like 'The Happy Prince', 'Selfish Giant' and others.
